FAQ Security

I have ransomware. What should I do right now?

Turn the computer off immediately by holding down the power button — this stops the encryption from spreading to connected drives and the rest of your network. Do not pay the ransom under any circumstances: there is no guarantee you will get your data back, and you are only funding the next attack. Call our NONSTOP data-recovery line on +420 775 556 063. We will pull the drive out and try to recover data from the sectors that were not hit, then reinstall the system and set up security so it does not happen again.

Which antivirus do you recommend in 2026?

For an ordinary user who does not download pirated software or click on dubious attachments, the built-in Microsoft Defender is plenty. It is free, it does not nag you with ads, and it scores very well in comparison tests year after year. For companies or higher-risk users we recommend a paid solution with central management and advanced ransomware protection, such as Bitdefender GravityZone. If you are not sure which way to go, call +420 774 777 774 and we will talk it through.

Is Defender enough, or should I pay for ESET?

Yes — for home use, Defender on Windows 11 is entirely enough. ESET is a great product, but its main strengths (advanced management, network protection, auditing) really pay off in a business setting. Don’t waste money on licences you don’t need. That said, if you want the extra peace of mind, drop by our shop at Viniční 3587/216 in Brno-Židenice and we will install and configure ESET for a few hundred crowns.

Someone hacked my email. What now?

Change your password right away from a different, clean device. If you can’t log in, use your provider’s password-recovery tool (Seznam, Google, Microsoft). Once you have control back, the very first thing to check is your mail forwarding settings and rules — attackers often set up hidden copies of your messages. Then turn on two-factor authentication (2FA). If you are stuck, come to the shop and we will secure the account for you.

Is 2FA worth it? Where do I turn it on?

Absolutely. Two-factor authentication is the single most effective thing you can do for your online security. Even if an attacker gets hold of your password, without the code from your phone they get nowhere. Turn it on everywhere you can: your Google account, Seznam, Facebook, Instagram and above all your online banking. In each service’s security settings, look for an item called “Two-factor authentication” or “2FA”.

How do I spot a phishing email?

Watch for a suspicious sender address (for example info@ceska-sporitelna-pomoc.cz instead of the official domain), urgent calls to action (“Your password expires in 2 hours!”) and grammar mistakes. Never click links in suspicious emails — open the site yourself in your browser instead. If you are not sure, send it to us on +420 774 777 774 (WhatsApp or SMS) and we’ll take a look. In 2026, scams using AI-cloned voices are also on the rise, so treat any urgent phone request to move money with the same caution.

Should I back up? How often?

Yes, and on a regular schedule — at least once a week for ordinary files, and daily for work in progress. Follow the 3-2-1 rule: three copies of your data, on two different types of media, with one copy off-site (in the cloud, or on an external drive you don’t keep at home). For businesses we can set up automated backups with monitoring — we’ll quote the price once we know how much data and how many machines are involved.

I’m in Brno. Do you offer a custom computer security setup?

Yes. Drop by our shop at Viniční 3587/216 in Brno-Židenice (Mon–Fri 10:00–16:00). On the spot we’ll check your computer for malware, uninstall the junk, update the system and configure security around the way you actually use the machine. The price depends on the scope, but a basic “security audit” usually takes us under an hour.
