How much does a decent work machine cost?

It depends on how demanding your work is. An office computer (browser, Office, email) costs considerably less than a machine for graphics, video or CAD, where a powerful processor and plenty of RAM do the heavy lifting. The price always follows the specific requirements — tell us the purpose and your budget, and we’ll email you a proposed build within 24 hours.

Can you recommend a laptop for everyday work and study?

For everyday work and study we usually point people to the Lenovo ThinkPad / IdeaPad, Dell Latitude, HP EliteBook or ASUS ZenBook lines — it comes down to your budget and what you need in terms of battery life, weight and display. We’ll help you pick the right specific model for your needs at our shop in Brno-Židenice, or over the phone.

SSD or HDD for a laptop?

An SSD, without question — it’s the single biggest speed-up you can give an older laptop. Swapping a slow mechanical drive for an SSD cuts the Windows boot time from minutes to seconds and makes the whole system feel snappier. At our shop at Viniční 3587/216 in Brno-Židenice we usually swap a laptop drive by the next day, data transfer included.

Will you build a PC for me, or do I have to buy the components from you?

Both options work. You can pick the components with us and we’ll assemble, test and get the computer running — we’ll give you a rough labour estimate over the phone based on complexity, and a final figure once it’s built. If you bring your own parts, we’ll assemble those too; new components carry the standard manufacturer’s warranty. Any claim on our own work we handle individually, in line with the law.
